CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT PLAN

Please read the Plan here or a bite-size version is also available here.

The Conservation Management Plan was submitted to the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting, which was held in May 2024. The aim is to manage, conserve and protect the shipwreck by implementing the Plan and ultimately seeking an ASPA (Antarctic Specially Protected Area) designation.

The Plan will be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure Endurance is managed, conserved and protected.

The United Kingdom is responsible for the shipwreck and the Conservation Management Plan provides a framework for the long-term management of the site. The UK strongly encourages all parties to the Antarctic Treaty to follow the Plan and respect any future designation as an ASPA.
